Within the last few months, a lot of things have changed. As a result I find myself becoming very nostalgic, trying to cling to something familiar and comfortable. During these times I like to listen to music. I find that often times I will use music to define how I'm feeling. When I write in my journal I sometimes rely on song lyrics rather than on my own words. I seem to have a song for every mood that I'm in. So lately I've been feeling nostaligic, and a little lost. Digging through my playlist- I found these songs to define my current state of mind.

It was not too long ago when the exit polls had proclaimed Thomas Dewey the clear victor over Harry S. Truman in the 1948 election. The ultra conservative Chicago Tribune went as far as to print the headline, "Dewey defeats Truman." The next morning people were stunned to hear the final result, that Truman came out victorious. In this week's On The Media, Bob Garfield talked with Jonathan Storm, tv critic for the Philadelphia Inquirer, regarding the accuracy of exit polls.
Meet Jeff Ketelson. Born in San Francisco in 1948, Jeff obtained his engineering certification from the American Society for Quality Control. He has worked in the Aerospace Industry on the F16, Boeing Cruise Missile, LEM Lander, and the NASA Space Shuttle. Ohh yeah, he's also the 10th District Republican Congressional Nominee for California. Name ring a bell? Why should it? After all, other than on my blog where else could you have possibly heard his name?
Just this last Monday I was surfing the channels when I noticed that David Letterman was on. Being a big fan of his I decided to stick around and watch the show. The special guest that night was John Kerry and being a supporter I was interested in what he had to say. However, I was surprised to find that what I thought was going to be a somewhat thoughtful interview turned out to be open mic night for John Kerry with his "Top 10" list and jokes about Bush/Cheney, "Edwards wanted to stand in the vice presidential debate but Cheney wanted to sit, so we compromised and now George Bush is going to sit on Dick Cheney's lap." In this week's OTM, Brooke Gladstone examines the Kerry campaign and the reasons behind his lack of press interviews. Gladstone points to the fact that if elected President Kerry guranteed one press interview a month, however, as a presidential hopeful he's far less generous.
Now that the Olympic games are over we have another event that has taken the spotlight. The new fall season? No no kids, the Republican National Convention. Huh? That's right what has proven to be boring republican banter in years past has this year proven to be a stomping ground for protestors across the nation. While the convention is being held inside Madison Square Garden, "On the Media's" Gladstone joins several other reporters in capturing what appears to be the conventions premier event, the protesting by hundereds of people whom resist Bush's agenda. One might wonder why all camera men are outside.
This is where I lay out my thoughts...
