a couple glimpses into my soul.....

Sometimes when I'm out really late, I like to listen to calming music as I drive. This opportunity presents itself often when I am driving home from a concert or some other event that results in me driving at night. This mix also can be used when lying in bed at night and wanting to unwind. That is how I have used this mix, and I think it works very well.
1. The Postal Service- 'Such Great Heights'- Give Up
2. Jamiroquai- 'Destitute Illusion'- Synkronized
3. Coldplay- 'Clocks'- A Rush of Blood to the Head
4. Coldplay- 'Dont Panic'- Parachutes
5. Moby- 'Extreme Ways'- 18
6. 311- 'Use of Time'- Transistor
7. 311- 'Sometimes Jacks Rule the Realm'- Evolver
8. 311- 'Stealing Happy Hours'- Transistor
9. Cary Brothers- 'Blue Eyes'- Garden State soundtrack
10. Frou Frou- 'Let Go'- Garden State soundtrack
11. Linkin Park- 'My December'- unreleased
12. Slightly Stoopid- 'World Goes Round'- Everything You Need

another mix I use is a mix of my favorite songs ever. I have too many to list in one mix, but these are the cream of the crop, so to speak.
1. Foo Fighters- 'Everlong'- The Colour and the Shape
2. Third Eye Blind- 'Hows It Gonna Be'- Third Eye Blind
3. 311- 'Stealing Happy Hours'- Transistor
4. Led Zeppelin- 'Stairway to Heaven'- Led Zeppelin IV
5. Oasis- 'Wonderwall'- Whats the Story Morning Glory
6. Matchbox 20- '3 AM'- Yourself or Someone Like You
7. Nirvana- 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'- Nevermind
8. Metallica- 'One'- ...And Justice for All
9. Korn- 'Falling Away From Me'- Issues
10. Everclear- 'Why I Dont Believe in God'- So Much for the Afterglow
11. The Matches- 'Sick Little Suicide'- E. Von Dahl Killed the Locals

"Top Secret"- not necessarily what we 'need to know'

My segment of On the Media was entitled “Spies Like Us”. In this segment, Bob Garfield interviewed Charles Cameron, policy analyst of the Rheingold Group. Cameron has been studying the rise of open source material in society. By ‘open source material’, they are referring to publicly-accessible information sources, such as news reports, academic studies, scientific research, and the like. The sorts of information that everyone can be able to receive, without the need of secrecy or ‘classified’ status, basically. Cameron states that a majority of the information that we as the public ‘need to know’ is that information that we can receive without needing to use secrecy.

From Michael Caine to....Mark Wahlberg???

There really isn’t much of a correlation between “The Italian Job” (1969) and “The Italian Job” (2003). Well, other than car chases between Mini Coopers and traffic manipulation. And perhaps the characters’ names. I viewed both of these films for this criticism assignment, and they are almost completely unrelated to each other.

You've just been PUNK'D

For my criticism assignment, I saw an episode of the MTV show “Punk’d”. This show, if you already did not know, is hosted by Ashton Kutcher and involves people pulling elaborate pranks on celebrities, and seeing how they react. Then, at the end, Kutcher often comes out and then the celebrity in peril realizes it was all a ‘punk’. The show is done in good nature, but it still is mean to the celebrities. This particular episode, they were pulling a prank on pop singer Justin Timberlake.

Don't think Fox News is 'fair and balanced?' well then SHUT UP

For my assignment, I viewed the film 'Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on News', directed by Robert Greenwald. In this documentary, Greenwald reveals startling information about Fox News, the network that has been controversial for a long time, due to its bias. This film contains interviews with many former Fox News employees, who wish to be kept anonymous. This is probably because they are afraid of potential legal action, should they say something that angers the network. This film is made with a short budget, as it was mostly funded by left-wing website MoveOn.org.
