[RUME] Verbal SAT better than Math SAT for research?

We did research on that qustion at POlytechnic, looking at our entering
Freshman over a several year span. We were concerned about retention
issues, and the math department always gets blamed since students say
that math is too hard.

We also found a strong correlation of the verbal SAT score with success
in math courses. Our courses (more than than now) demandd considerable
conceptual understanding and did not rely on learning calculation rules.
I think that is a significant factor in the correlation with verbal score.
