Dear RUME subscribers.

I am looking for a home for a paper that we have just finished writing. It has been suggested that we send it to one of the journals listed on the RUME website. With 50 journals listed on the RUME website, I was hoping for some assistance on narrowing the field to the best choice for submission purposes.

The abstract is:
Colleges and universities have long considered College Algebra and similar courses to be gateway course. Small (2002) reports that the national average passing rate in College Algebra is somewhere near fifty percent. This low success rate often results in animosity as Math Departments are perceived as standing in front of the closed gate. A more useful approach is for academic departments and university staff to collaborate on creating a College Algebra course for which more of the university shares responsibility for improving success. Hagerty, Smith and Goodwin (in print) discuss comprehensive design changes which created a positive College Algebra course, while this paper looks at the development of a positive learning environment resulting from collaboration across the university to facilitate student success.

I appreciate any assistance received.

Sincerely

Dr. Gary Hagerty
