FYI: Here are some questions and answers regarding the 19th ICMI Study on
Proof and Proving that have arisen so far.

Annie Selden

Q1. Papers by individual authors: Can an individual author submit more than
one paper?
A1. Yes, up to two papers. Even if both papers are accepted, however, only
one will be published in the proceedings. It will be up to the IPC to
decide which one.

Q2. Papers by multiple authors: Can the same group of authors submit more
than one paper?
A1. Yes, as many papers as there are authors.

Q3. Multiple authors: Will they all be invited to attend the conference?
A1. Yes.

Q4. What are the criteria for judging a paper?
A4. The following statement appears on the Web site and in the Discussion
Document: "Submitted contributions will be reviewed and selected on the
following criteria: (a) clear links to the Study's goals; (b) explicit fit
with one or more of the themes; (c) clear structure and exposition; (d)
potential to contribute to the quality and advancement of the Study." Each
reviewer will determine to what degree, in his or her judgement, a paper
meets the above criteria and will make a recommendation.

To be seen as having a clear link to the Study's goals, a paper will need
to focus upon proof and proving. Papers that have only a tangential bearing
on proof and proving will thus not be deemed appropriate.

Q5. What if a paper is accepted by one of reviewer and rejected by the other?
A5. The IPC will discuss such papers at its next meeting and make a final
decision.
