Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Mathematics (Mathematics Education
Emphasis)
The Department of Mathematics at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites
applications for a tenure-track appointment (nine-month basis) in
mathematics with mathematics education emphasis at the assistant
professor level, beginning January 2009.
Applicants should have a doctorate in mathematics education, including
at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics, or doctorate in mathematics.
ABD considered. Skills and commitment to provide high-quality
undergraduate education within a culturally diverse environment are
essential. Preference will be given to candidates with good knowledge of
curriculum and assessment in K-12 and experience in teaching pre-service
and in-service teachers. Applicants should be prepared to teach courses
across the undergraduate curriculum (24 credits per year), including
core courses, and teacher preparation courses. The successful candidate
will also be expected to maintain an active research program in
mathematics education, providing expertise in strengthening the
department's MS degree with mathematics education emphasis. Salary is
competitive and commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and
experience.
Housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of
Mathematics offers undergraduate and masters degree programs. See

Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the U.S. and providing
official transcripts. For the initial review process, applicants may
submit unofficial transcripts for each institution of higher education.
However, prior to issuing a letter of appointment, official transcripts
must be received directly from each regionally accredited

indicate at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching fields. If
transcripts are from an international institution, it is the
responsibility of the prospective faculty member to have the transcripts
translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator (AACRAO)

Selected candidate must pass a pre-employment background investigation
