Position Description: 
Ferris State University is sincerely committed to being a truly diverse

Assistant Professor of Mathematics (with expertise in mathematics 
education)
College of Arts and Sciences 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Teach a full range of mathematics courses, including courses for 
prospective elementary and secondary teachers. Faculty members also have 
professional responsibilities which may include academic advising; 
university committee work; regularly posted office hours (at times 
convenient for students); professional development (defined broadly 
according to individual interests and expertise); and participation in 
traditional functions which have academic significance. Ability or 
willingness to teach off-campus or on-line classes a plus. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
Required - A Ph.D. in mathematics, with background in mathematics 
education, or a doctorate in mathematics education, with the equivalent of 
master's level preparation in mathematics. The doctoral degree must be 
completed within one year of initial hire. The candidate must demonstrate 
interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work effectively with 
a diverse array of students and colleagues. 

Preferred - Demonstrated experience or expertise in mathematics education; 
demonstrated knowledge of state and national standards. 

SALARY: 
$48,000 - $56,000
