During the 2010 Conference on Research in Undergraduate Mathematics Education, we will vote to accept revisions to the SIGMAA on RUME Charter and By-laws. The MAA requested that the SIGMAA on RUME combine the current Charter and By-laws that govern the association, as to more closely align the governing documents of all of the MAA SIGMAAs. Annie Selden led the committee, with members Mike Oehrtman and Sean Larsen, to combine the two documents into one SIGMAA on RUME Charter. The new charter is attached to this message.
The changes to the Charter are proposed in order to merge our By-laws with our Charter and to substitute required wording from the SIGMAA Model Charter for the current wording (which has essentially the same meaning). Strikethroughs indicate deletions; additions are indicated in red. All relevant paragraphs from the By-laws have been incorporated. It is recommended that these changes be adopted and that the By-laws be revoked.
Please read through the attached new SIGMAA on RUME Charter in preparation for discussion and voting at the 2010 Conference on RUME in Raleigh.
Thank you,
Karen
