Cathy,

I think you have some concerns that have to do with MAA policy.  I am not
sure we should make this an ARUMEissue.  The reason for paying dues is
twofold.  One is because you think MAA is an organization that you should
belong to and the other is that ARUME is an organization you should belong
to.  The two are, of course, unrelated.

If those two reasons don't apply to you and/or you can't afford the dues,
then you should not join.  But again, this is not exactly an ARUME issue.

Of course, you might propose to ARUME that it take on a project of trying
to get MAA to change its dues structure in line with the concerns you
have.  But to do that, you probably should be an ARUME member.
